Why Accept Credit Cards For My Music Services?
The more quick and convenient it is to pay for your music services (or goods if your selling old gear): the higher the potential of a stranger, or friend/acquaintance, becoming a new customer, or new student, is substantially more likely.
People like convenience, and people are more likely to pay for items when they are using credit cards or online payments — I guess it doesn't feel like real money?
Oh and you should accept both online payments and credit cards because they are both very easy for both you and your customers, but they are also FREE to setup — most just charge a small percentage of the sale price, and even the credit card readers are free!
"Only one-in-ten [Canadians] prefer to pay with cash."
-Ipsos Reid (ipsos-na.com/news-polls/pressrelease.aspx?id=5070
Slightly more dated Canadian Statistics, but:
"85%of the top spenders reported using a credit or bank card online during 2007 forsome or all of their purchases."
Can I Really Swipe Credit Cards?
If you have a smartphone or tablet (iPhone/iPad/Android) with internet access: then you can take credit card payments anywhere you can get an internet connection and get your own FREE and SECURE card reader that plugs directly into the headphone jack on your device. They can even sign for it on your device by using their finger as a pen. Simple.
What Are My Options?
You actually have quite a few options with both credit card readers and online payments. I really like the Square Reader
because it is tiny, free (including shipping, like most of them), customers can sign directly on the device, has a clean look, and has gained some popularity and reputability since partnering with Starbucks.
