Why Register With SOCAN?
SOCAN pays royalties to songwriters, composers, and lyricists when their music is performed (in bars, concerts, on the radio/TV, & more).
Registering with SOCAN will allow you to collect royalties anytime one of your musical works is performed.

Who Can Register for SOCAN?
"To become a SOCAN member, music creators must meet the following criteria:
- be a music composer, songwriter, or lyricist;
- have created a musical work or part of a musical work that has been:
- published by a music publisher; or
- recorded; or
- performed (or will be) in a public forum (i.e. radio, television, film, live performance, satellite radio, ringtone or internet) subject to licensing by SOCAN"
Getting Started: STEP 1
After clicking APPLY and ACCEPT you will need to select your "performance information (see the graphic below)."
Then enter one of your performances' details (select the one that applies).
Choosing Your US Representative
Your US rep. is an organization similar to SOCAN that will collect royalties on your behalf, and distribute them to SOCAN.

, but if your in a rush I personally recommend SESAC for contemporary classical composers.
SOCAN should email you shortly saying that your now a member of SOCAN.
After about 3-14 days your SOCAN forms should arrive in the mail.
Sign your forms, and get your witness to sign them as well.
Send back the signed forms in the provided envelope to SOCAN.
